Cosmic Injectables - Dermal Filler
Dermal Fillers are gel-like substances composed mainly of a substance naturally found in our body, Hyaluronic Acid (HA). The role of HA in the skin is to attract water, delivering essential nutrients and hydration to the skin cells. Young, healthy skin contains a lot of HA, but factors such as aging and sun exposure reduce the amount, causing skin to lose structure and volume.
Dermal Fillers are designed to temporarily treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and restore volume loss in those 21 and older.
Dermal Filler Procedure
In a doctor's office, dermal filler injections are quick, typically lasting 15-30 minutes. A fine needle is used to inject the filler beneath the skin, targeting areas in need of volume or wrinkle reduction. Most fillers now contain lidocaine, which usually removes the need for anesthesia, but doctors may opt to apply a topical numbing cream for added comfort.
The best part? After treatment, you can return to your regular activities with virtually no downtime. However, for the first 24 hours, it’s advised to steer clear of intense exercise, prolonged sun or heat exposure, and alcohol to minimize any potential complications.

Results of Dermal Fillers
After dermal filler injections, the results are instantly noticeable. Any swelling or bruising that occurs can typically be relieved with ice and should fade within a few days.
Generally, the effects last anywhere from 6 to 9 months, and in some cases, up to a year. However, as the manufacturer points out, "Injectable dermal filler results are temporary and can vary. To maintain optimal results for wrinkles and folds, periodic touch-up treatments may be needed."
